FEBRUARY READER'S CIRCLE

Please join us on Zoom, Thursday, February 17th at 7:00 PM. February brings us Valentine’s Day and a new twist on a love story.  Pulitzer Prize-winning author Elizabeth Strout explores the nature of love, especially the sometimes complicated love between mothers and daughters, in “My Name Is Lucy Barton.” The emotional landscape that Strout paints for us includes both deep suffering and simple, unabashed joy; furthermore, she does it all without getting bogged down in sentimentality. This short novel was named a best book of the year by over a dozen media outlets, including The New York Times Book Review, Kirkus Reviews, and National Public Radio.  It is soon to be a Broadway play starring Laura Linney.

Please come join in the conversation! Please RSVP and join us on Zoom. Email Trina Burek for more information.

"HOW CAN OUR COMMUNITY HEAL RACISM?"

WEDNSDAY, FEBRUARY 16TH, NOON

ON ZOOM

Spend your lunch hour with us on Zoom as we hear from the local group, HEROS, Healing Everyday Racism in Our Schools.

HEROS is a working group of students, parents, teachers, and neighbors who self-organized in early 2018. Our aim (and our name) is Healing Everyday Racism in Our Schools (HEROS). We believe that such healing is possible if we join together, listen to one another and take bold, courageous action that centers the lives of those who experience racism on a daily basis.

This event is free and open to all, registration is required. A zoom link will be provided 24 hours prior to the event. Please contact Melinda at activities@womansclubofwilmette.org with any questions or for assistance with registration.
