Our activities

We encourage you to join us for one of our upcoming activities, the majority of which are virtual at this time. We continue to fulfill our mission in giving back to the community most recently through our Coat Drive and Adopt-a-Family program both with Family Focus of Evanston. We also offer many social activities for our club members such as the monthly Reader's Circle, lunchtime speaker series, and other special events. Please visit our calendar for the latest program offerings.

April Book Selection

Willis Wu doesn’t perceive himself as the protagonist in his own life: he’s merely Generic Asian Man. Sometimes he gets to be Background Oriental Making a Weird Face or even Disgraced Son, but always he is relegated to a prop. Yet every day, he leaves his tiny room in a Chinatown SRO and enters the Golden Palace restaurant, where Black and White, a procedural cop show, is in perpetual production. He’s a bit player here, too, but he dreams of being Kung Fu Guy—the most respected role that anyone who looks like him can attain. Or is it?

Please RSVP by clicking the button below (you must be logged in as a member to RSVP). You will receive Zoom link 24 hrs prior to this event.

Please join the WCW and YogaSix for a restorative yoga event on Wednesday, April 28th at 7pm. This will be a hybrid event - your choice off an in-person option at the WCW Clubhouse or a virtual option over Zoom.

You'll be led through a one hour Y6 Restore experience for the ultimate recovery. Slow down, stay low to the ground, and open up the major muscle groups of the body. The evening will be led by Kira Maar, an experienced yoga teacher on the NorthShore, and one of the newest members of the YogaSix team. Kira will incorporate her essential oils from Kira’s Bliss to make the experience even more relaxing.

You can join us in-person at the Woman’s Club of Wilmette or virtually. If joining us in-person, bring your yoga mat (if you don't have one, we will have some available for you to use), a water bottle and a small towel. We will be using two blocks, a strap and a bolster for the in-person experience, provided by YogaSix. For in-person, mats will be socially distanced and covid safety protocols will be in place.

If joining us virtually, alternatives for these props can be a thick book for a block, a belt or towel for a strap, and a firm pillow for a bolster. For virtual participants, please plan to pick up your essential oils prior to the event.

Cost/Details: $25 per person, includes 1 hour of instruction and a sample of essential oils, to be used during the class. Essential oils pack, will be available for pick up on Tuesday, April 27th from 1-3PM at The Woman’s Club of Wilmette, 930 Greenleaf Avenue, Wilmette. If joining us in person, you will receive your essential oils that evening. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of class.

All registered participants for this event will be eligible to purchase a 5 class pack at Yogasix at the discounted rate of $99 (purchased from April 28th-May 5th, 2021).
